The Woodman Family Foundation Housing Stability Grant for Artists (WFF HSG) provides grants of $30,000, distributed over three years, to NYC-based visual artists in need who are seeking support for stable housing. In its inaugural cycle, the WFF HSG will award grants to five artists.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Applicants must:
- Be 21 years or older on April 8, 2025.
- Reside in one of the five boroughs of New York City, and must have maintained New York City residency for at least the last five consecutive years.
- Have an adjusted gross income of $75,000 or lower for an individual, or $150,000 for joint filers, averaged over the last two federal tax returns.
- Have household assets no greater than $108,710 ($155,300 for joint filers) as of the application deadline.
- Not currently be receiving rental assistance through a program including, but not limited to, Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV), Section 8 project-Based Voucher (PBV), Family Eviction Prevention Supplement (FEPS or CityFHEPS), Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH), or a tenant in Public Housing or Section 202 (Supportive Housing for the Elderly).
- Not be enrolled in a degree-seeking program of any kind.
- Demonstrate recent and ongoing activity as a visual artist for at least the last seven years (Painting, Photography, Printmaking/Drawing/Book Arts, and/or Sculpture).
- Be experiencing housing instability through one or more of the following circumstances: 1) Not having a lease or written agreement with the owner/landlord of your housing, or a sublease with tenant of record. 2) Currently in a month-to-month or other uncertain housing situation. 3) Currently be paying more than 40% of your income in rent (including utilities). 4) Have received notice of a rent increase within the next six months that will increase your rent to 40% or more of your income. 5) Needing to leave your current housing because of an unexpected partnership dissolution, for your physical or emotional safety, or because of an unhealthy condition such as mold, lack of utilities or hazardous conditions.

The Anonymous Was A Woman Environmental Art Grants (AWAW EAG) provides up to $20,000 to support environmental art projects led by women-identifying artists in the United States and U.S. Territories.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Applicants must:
- Identify as a woman and/or female, including trans women and people of variable gender identities who were designated female at birth
- Be 18 years or older on or before the grant deadline
- Be an individual artist who is the project lead of the proposed project
- Collaborative projects are eligible and encouraged to apply
- While partnerships with organizations are allowed, organizations themselves cannot apply
- Have residence in one of the 50 states, a Tribal Nation, a U.S. Territory, or the District of Columbia on the grant deadline
- Not be enrolled in a degree-seeking program of any kind during the grant term (August 2025 to August 2026)
- Not have received an AWAW EAG previously as the lead applicant
- Past recipients of other NYFA and AWAW grant programs are eligible to apply
- Not be a NYFA or AWAW employee, member of the NYFA Board of Trustees or Artists’ Advisory Committee, and/or an immediate family member of any of the above
WHAT TYPES OF PROJECTS ARE ELIGIBLE?
- Projects must have a focus on environmental issues. Environmental art projects that qualify for this program may focus on the following themes, but are not limited to:
- Regeneration
- Eco-social engagement
- Decarbonization as decolonization
- Ecofeminism
- Climate change / climate collapse
- Systems-restoration
- Interspecies relationships
- Natural or built systems
- Recycling and repurposing
- Clean energy production
- Bioplastics
- The funded project or phase of the project must be completed by August 2026.
- Projects must have a public engagement component in the proposed project that is free to attend and takes place within the grant term (August 2025 to August 2026).
- Funds must be used to complete the project outlined in the application form. Funds may be reallocated as necessary to complete the project.
- Tip: When considering the materials used within your project, it’s important to prioritize sustainability and ensure that they are non-extractive and ethically sourced.

RAUSCHENBERG DANCER EMERGENCY GRANTS
This program provides one-time grants of up to $3,000 to professional dancers in need, who have a dire financial emergency due to the loss or lack of recent/current live performance work, because of circumstances outside of their control. “Dire financial emergencies“ include the lack or imminent endangerment of essentials such as rental housing, medicine/healthcare, utilities, transportation and food. This grant program aims to provide dancers with greater stability to move forward by covering up to three months of essential expenses, recognizing the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the dance sector. You must present an urgent and critical need for emergency support in your application.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
To be eligible to apply, you must:
· Not have previously received a Rauschenberg Emergency Grant through NYFA
· On your resume/bio, demonstrate recent and sustained activity as a paid, live dancer in any stage/performance style, including aerial, ballet, hip-hop, jazz, modern, tap, and traditional/folk since at least 2020. You may apply if you perform in a variety of settings (for instance: ticketed stage performances, free street festivals and music videos), as long as you have performed in live, public-facing performances regularly since at least 2020 (at least one paid engagement annually). You do not need to be a full-time dancer, or receive your primary income through your dance performance. Inactivity, or online/streaming activity, during COVID (2020-21) and during the last six months, is allowable. Performances in educational/academic settings, social dance, competitive settings, clubs and commercial settings, exotic dance, commercials and industrials cannot be considered in this history of performing. Self-produced online presentations, and/or performances shared solely through personal websites, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or other online platforms are not eligible.
· Live in one of the 50 states, a tribal nation, a U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia on the grant deadline
· Be 21 years or older on the grant deadline
· Have adjusted gross annual income of $75,000 or lower for an individual, or $150,000 for joint filers, averaged over the last two federal tax returns
- Submit your two most recent federal tax returns
· Provide a W-9 with a Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) or EIN if you are funded
· Not be enrolled in a degree-seeking program
· Request expenses that have been/will be incurred in the U.S.
